about

He strode back to me, a fist full of social justice goals matching mine, already a phoenix. Dragon lived on one lung. Walking 3km on work days and 6 on any other, he noted my hiking boots ahead of my proffered hand.

Oxygen to breathe. Oxygen to fan the flames.

We fought back-to-back, slaying some dragons, befriending others.

When we folded our wings and turned to face each other, Dragon was already on a 5 year survival curve. Now or never. We leapt through the fire.

A home by the beach, 6km every day.

Immortality for 8 years. Till the bell tolls: 6 months to 2 years.

Breathe.

Time to get serious.

Outstretched wings, a journey to discover music and fundamental reality.

Five immortal years of concerts later, and some small insight to the quantum scale, no sign of the disease. Down to half a lung, quantum exchange creating sentience from oxygen.

6km by the sea every day.

To breathe, to fan the flames of renewal.

To fly us into what might be. Reality exists as probabilities. Matter pops in and out of existence. Oxygen runs out. Dragons fly too close to the sun.

To breathe, to fan the flames of renewal.

Dragon wasn’t going to his own funeral.

Music is eternal. But who is our composer?

I suggest Adam Page. Dragon smiles the pleased-with-himself smile

and says

‘Tell Adam to write something to blow Nick away’

This is your music Nick Cockram.

Because words are irrelevant …

- Jane Fisher, 17/02/22.
